First visit to sunny beach and Bulgaria , went for one week and got home late last night. We stayed in a villa approximately 5 minutes bus ride out of Sunny Beach resort, and to be honest I'm very glad it was. I'm not sure what I expected to find when we got there, but I was very disapointed. I had read previous posts so knew that it was obviously a touristy commercial resort BUT my goodness it really was touristy.
It wasn't a very nice holiday. In fact it is definately the worst holiday I have ever been on. The resort in my opinion is a pure money making machine. We ate at the Condor Went to khans tent acceptable food, adequate show nothing spectacular poor service Djannys acceptable food nothing to write home about reasonably priced.
Other than that, every other resteraunt seemed to have the same menu, literally even down to the same pictures Not great! Nessebar , went over on the boat and got train back, again a nice enough village but completely spoiled by the hundreds of stalls lining the streets selling more of the same old tat! Kosharitza village - went to the resteraunt that is opposite the bus stop in the village centre, good service nice enough food if you dont mind eating pork every night, it really is the only decent meat we had all week very very cheap!
Very good value for money. Kids enjoyed it. Hired a car and drove along the coast down past Sozopol , and I am afraid its the same where ever you go, custom built tourist resorts. Most definately not authentic Bulgarian villages, some nice enough beaches along here. The beach in sunny beach is completely covered in sun loungers and parasoles, it is VERY hard to find a spot to sit on the sand, I expect the beach would look quite pretty without them again a shame.
Also couldn't go in the sea there was a thick green sea weedy residue along the edge of the beach and into the sea stretching out a few meters. Unfortunately we found a lot of the Bulgarian people to be rude, even though we did TRY to speak their language. Now I dont want to sound snobby or as though I only go on 5 star holidays, I dont, I have been to Magaluf and the Costa del sol lol.
