When we were in Plan de Avila on Thursday, we had a hit parade of creatures.
First up was an amazing Pig vs Pig showdown. At one of the homes there were 2 pigs in the yard and they looked like they were about to fight it out.
It was not particularly deadly or uniquely Guatemalan, but it was amusing. So the pigs made the cut. This was a female, and she looked a little worse for the wear. We saw a male chompipe last year in a different village. When we were working up at the school, one of the guys working with us handed me what I thought was a large dead beetle.
I call it the Deadly Cuilapa Possum Beetle. We got a good look at this bad boy. Julio Papa told us it was a coral snake.
